Bernstein : Chichester Psalms

Commissioned for, and originally performed in Chichester Cathedral in July 1965 as part of the Southern Cathedrals Festival of that year. To be accompanied by organ, harp, percussion and violin.

Fauré : Requiem

This work composed in the late 1880's, focused on eternal rest and consolation,  is Fauré's best known large work.

Schubert : Mass in G

This tuneful mass is the best known of Schubert's three missae breves

Vivaldi : Gloria

The scintillating 'Gloria' is on of Vivald's most popular works.

Pergolesi : Magnificat

This energetic piece, once attributed to Pergolesi, is now thought to have been composed by Francesco Durante.

The programme will also include Bach's much loved Jesu Joy of Man's Desiring

and a short set of Traditional Sussex Folk Songs, newly arranged for this concert by our Musical Director, Timothy Ravalde

Mozart: C Minor Mass

This is considered to be one of Mozart's greatest works.

Gilbert & Sullivan : Various Choruses

Please join us to take part in some light-hearted choral singing along with members of Fernhurst Choral Society, led by our Musical Team, Tim Ravalde (MD) and George Haynes, our accompanist.  We will rehearse several popular choruses from the Gilbert and Sullivan operettas Trial by Jury, Pirates of Penzance, The Gondoliers, Iolanthe and HMS Pinafore.  The event will conclude with an informal performance of the songs rehearsed.

Vocal scores will available and refreshments will be provided during the break.

Bach : Christmas Oratorio

The Christmas Oratorio is exceptional in that it contains a few hymn settings, or versions of hymn tunes, for which there is no known earlier source than Bach's composition.
A beautiful way to welcome in the Christmas season.

George Frideric Handel’s Messiah marked our triumphant return to public performance!

Full of famous tunes, this work marks the high point of the 18th century collision of sacred music and opera.
